The first step is to create the story treatment, which is a condensed "blueprint" version of the plot and character arches. After that, the script must be written out with full dialog and location descriptions.
Once the dialog is written, it must be acted out by the actor(s). In animation, this step is usually done before animating.
In this step, environments, vehicles and characters need to be designed and built in 3D software. Once that is done, they need to be arranged into a scene so that the characters have a place to interact with one another.
Once the scenes are built, the animator can step in and make everything move as it should. Character movements, background elements like machines and weather effects are part of this process.
Once the scene is animated, it's time to render out each frame of the animation, scene by scene.
The final step in this process is to put all of the rendered frames into video editing software where it can be assembled into video clips and the final sequence. Music and post processing effects are also added in this step.
